Captain James Cook was the first person to brew beer in New Zealand. He brewed ale style beers here during his ‘voyages of discovery’ in the eighteenth century. He used molasses with rimu and mānuka foliage in his beers - the same ingredients are used in this ale which has a dark copper colour and a distinctively New Zealand flavour.
